Palestine is reeling from yet another wave of deadly violence as Israeli airstrikes killed 51 Palestinians across the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, including women and children. The strikes coincided with escalating clashes in northern Gaza, where Palestinian fighters killed five Israeli soldiers, according to Israel’s military.
The surge in casualties in Palestine comes amid ongoing discussions in Washington between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. President Donald Trump over a possible ceasefire. While no official deal has been announced, both sides hinted at progress. A senior Israeli official claimed that 80–90% of the terms had been agreed upon, and a truce could be just days away.
The renewed hostilities underscore the dire situation facing Palestine, especially as its healthcare system teeters on the brink of collapse due to continued bombardment and limited humanitarian access.
Palestinian health authorities reported that Israeli forces struck areas sheltering displaced civilians in Khan Younis, southern Gaza. One airstrike on a tent settlement killed four people, while another killed a family of four—parents and their two children.
“He sleeps in the tent with his two children, Awda and Misk,” said Nisma al-Baiouk, mourning her slain brother. “My nephew Awda has no face, his face is gone.”
Widespread destruction in Palestine as continued airstrikes level residential areas and vital infrastructure.
In central Palestine, strikes on the Nuseirat area claimed 10 more lives and injured 72 others, according to officials at Awda Hospital. Nasser Hospital recorded 41 Palestinian deaths in a single day, marking one of the deadliest days in recent weeks.
The Palestine Red Crescent announced the shutdown of the Al-Zaytoun Medical Clinic in Gaza City after nearby shelling made operations impossible. Thousands of Palestinians, including children in need of vaccinations, are now left with no nearby medical services.
The humanitarian toll on Palestine continues to rise, with more than 57,000 Palestinians reported killed since the conflict erupted in October 2023. According to the Gaza Health Ministry, over half of the victims are women and children. The U.N. and humanitarian organizations recognize these figures as the most reliable indicators of the war’s impact.

As Washington pushes for a 60-day ceasefire, the key sticking point remains the future of the war itself. While Hamas has offered to release all hostages in return for a complete end to hostilities and Israeli withdrawal from Palestine, Netanyahu insists the war will only end if Hamas surrenders and disarms—terms Hamas has rejected.
The initial Hamas attack in 2023 led to 1,200 Israeli deaths and the capture of 251 hostages. Most have since been released through ceasefire agreements. However, Israel’s subsequent military response has devastated Palestine, with widespread destruction and massive civilian casualties.
