According to a statement by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the NAF carried out precision strikes on 6 July 2025 targeting critical terrorist positions in the Mandara Mountains. The strikes were part of their sustained efforts to dismantle insurgent networks within the North-East operational zone.

Gabkwet disclosed that the targeted areas, WaJahode and Loghpere, have long served as strategic hideouts for the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) faction of Boko Haram. The region, known for its mountainous terrain near the Nigerian-Cameroon border, has recently seen heightened terrorist movements, including the arrival of top JAS commanders and stockpiling of supplies.

“Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions by NAF had earlier confirmed suspicious activity in the area, including solar-fitted structures, black flags, and fortified encampments—indicative of renewed insurgent plans,” the statement said.

In swift response, NAF deployed its strike aircraft in a coordinated assault, targeting logistics warehouses, command posts, and defensive structures. The airstrikes neutralized several terrorists and severely disrupted their supply chain, effectively derailing their capacity for future offensives.

NAF reiterated its unwavering commitment to sustaining the current momentum in counterinsurgency operations and restoring peace and security across Nigeria’s troubled regions.
