The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has joined the Federal Government and Nigerians in mourning the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, as the Federal Executive Council (FEC) postpones its scheduled special session in his honour.
According to a statement released in Abuja by Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the decision to delay the FEC session was to allow for the finalisation of state funeral arrangements. The funeral is slated for today in Daura, Katsina State.
The EFCC, alongside other federal agencies, is expected to participate in the period of national mourning declared by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who announced a seven-day mourning period and ordered flags nationwide to be flown at half-mast.

The government has also declared today a public holiday in honour of the late President, who passed away on Sunday in a London hospital following a prolonged illness. The Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) will announce a new date for the rescheduled FEC session after the funeral.

In a show of national unity, President Tinubu dispatched a delegation led by Vice President Kashim Shettima and Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila to London to condole with the Buhari family and facilitate the return of the former President’s remains to Nigeria for interment according to Islamic rites.
