Asa Asika, the manager of Davido, has stated that Afrobeats could have reached even greater global success if leading artists like Davido and his peers had joined forces on a collaborative project. In a widely shared video, Asika emphasized the missed opportunity for a powerful joint effort among the top stars of the genre.

He noted that a partnership involving his boss, along with others making waves at the time, could have significantly boosted international ticket sales and strengthened the genre’s global presence.
“Our genre would’ve been bigger if he, Wizkid, and everybody who was popping at that point were all collaborating,” Asika said, suggesting such unity might have propelled Afrobeats further onto the world stage.
