His resignation was conveyed through a letter addressed to the party ward chairman in Makarfi Local Government Area. Though Makarfi refrained from disclosing any specific reasons for his exit, political analysts view it as part of a broader wave of defections and strategic realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Despite leaving the APC, Makarfi expressed appreciation for the relationships and experiences gained during his time with the party. His departure is seen as a significant development, given his influential role in the party’s 2023 electoral successes and his contributions to the rise of Governor Uba Sani and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
