 The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially announced the minimum cut-off marks for the 2025/2026 admission cycle into Nigeria’s tertiary institutions. Following the annual policy meeting held in Abuja with Heads of Tertiary Institutions and key stakeholders, the board approved a minimum score of 150 for universities, 100 for polytechnics and Colleges of Education, and 140 for Colleges of Nursing Sciences.

During the meeting, JAMB stressed the need for institutions to adhere strictly to these national benchmarks to ensure transparency, equity, and quality across the admission process. According to the board, the cut-off marks represent the minimum entry requirements, although individual institutions may set higher thresholds depending on their internal policies and competitiveness.
The registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, clarified that while these scores serve as national standards, the admission process will proceed via the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS), giving room for merit-based and inclusive selection procedures.

With these cut-off marks in place, JAMB has officially kick-started the 2025 admission process, guiding both institutions and applicants on the criteria required for entry into Nigeria’s higher education system.
