Apple is expected to launch its next-generation mobile phones — the iPhone 17 series — in September, with some notable differences between the Pro and Pro Max models.
As with previous releases, the iPhone 17 Pro Max will be physically larger than its Pro counterpart. The iPhone 17 Pro is rumored to feature a 6.3-inch display, while the Pro Max version could sport a larger 6.9-inch screen.

The larger size of the iPhone 17 Pro Max mobile phone naturally allows for a bigger internal battery. While longer battery life has always been an advantage of the Max model, recent leaks suggest that Apple may take things further this year. According to reports, the iPhone 17 Pro Max could be around 5% thicker than the iPhone 16 Pro Max to house a more powerful battery.

Specifically, the battery capacity of the upcoming Pro Max mobile phone is rumored to reach 5,000 mAh, up from 4,676 mAh in its predecessor. Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Pro is expected to remain the same thickness as the previous model and may not see the same battery upgrade.

While some years have seen the Pro Max model gain exclusive camera features before the Pro, both iPhone 17 models are currently rumored to have the same setup: three 48-megapixel rear cameras and a new 24-megapixel front camera. No distinctions in camera capability between the two mobile phones have been reported so far.
Early speculation suggested that the iPhone 17 Pro Max mobile phone might feature a smaller Dynamic Island, but updated rumors now indicate that any such change will likely apply to all models in the series — or be delayed until the iPhone 18.
