President Tinubu shows support for the Super Falcons as they gear up for the 2024 WAFCON final against Morocco.
As anticipation builds for the 2024 WAFCON final set to take place in Morocco on Saturday, July 26, 2025, President Bola Tinubu has delivered an emotional and uplifting message to Nigeria’s Super Falcons, commending their remarkable performance throughout the tournament.

In his message, President Tinubu praised the team for their excellence, resilience, and the pride they’ve brought to the nation ahead of their historic clash against the host nation, Morocco, at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat.

“Tonight, you stand at the brink of history as you face Morocco in the 2024 WAFCON final,” Tinubu stated. “Your journey through this tournament has been nothing short of awe-inspiring. You’ve carried the Nigerian flag with honour, pride, and strength, both on and off the field.”

Highlighting the team’s sportsmanship, the president referenced their thoughtful gesture towards injured South African player Gabriela Salgado after the semi-final match, calling it a testament to African unity and compassion.

Tinubu also pointed to the Super Falcons’ dominant performance throughout the competition: undefeated in the group stages, strong showings in the knockout rounds, and a single goal conceded in the semi-finals. “If statistics alone could win matches, you’d already be champions,” he noted, emphasizing Nigeria’s impressive record of nine previous WAFCON final victories.

The president reaffirmed the nation’s full support for the team, saying, “On behalf of a grateful nation, we’re cheering you on as you aim to lift a record tenth continental title at the 2024 WAFCON final.”

To demonstrate this support, Tinubu announced the dispatch of a presidential delegation to Rabat. This team includes Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy Hannatu Musawa, Minister of State for Finance Doris Uzoka-Anite, Minister of Women Affairs Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, and Chairman of the National Sports Commission Shehu Dikko.

The president concluded by thanking the Super Falcons’ families, coaching crew, the Nigerian community in Morocco, supporters’ clubs, and the Nigerian Mission for their unwavering encouragement throughout the tournament.
